This manual-style book instantly dives into Eckhart Tolle's principles of "living in the moment," which could be a jarring experience for readers who haven't read his preceding book, The Power of Now. For the initiated, though, this makes an excellent companion guide--rich in exercises and meditations to help readers get out of their minds so they can live more peacefully in their bodies. Sometimes it's hard to fathom what on earth Tolle is talking about: "To regain awareness of Being and to abide in that state of 'feeling-realization' is enlightenment." Be patient. All concepts will be revealed (or at least more carefully explained). Ultimately, Tolle leads readers into a new form of thinking (or actually not thinking) that erases the consuming habits of waiting, worrying, and being in fear. The first step is ending the "delusion of time." He asks, "Are you always trying to get somewhere other than where you are? ... Is most of your doing just a means to an end?" If so, Tolle has a book full of advice for you. As simplistic as this may sound, Tolle's work has spiritual merit and depth, especially for frantic Westerners who find their lives diminished by packed schedules and busy-ness. --Gail Hudson

In The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle shared the enlightenment he himself experienced after a startling personal transformation. This book extracts the essence of his teachings about how to free oneself from enslavement to the mind. His views go beyond any particular religion, doctrine, or guru. The goal is to be able to enter into and sustain an enlightened state of consciousness throughout everyday life. Through meditations and simple techniques, Eckhart shows readers how to quiet their thoughts, see the world in the present moment, and find the truest path to happiness.

    Watered down Yoga2010-06-022 / 5
The basic practices in the book could be little to no use compaired to doing a basic Yoga DVD at home at least with the Yoga DVD you may improve flexibility. The part on relationships is sheer fodder for folks that wait for their soul mate in pain & vain. It's just plain not going to happen for allot of people so why make them feel undergrade if their relationship is not a spiritual practice ? not very mindful of the human race at all. All the basic tried and tested techniques to raise your vibrational level and calm the senses can be found in and basic yoga class across the planet for the last 80 years. There is nothing new here to make life any easier, just to debase yourself even more.
Good for beginners on their spiritual journey2010-04-283 / 5
I think this book is great if you are starting out on your spiritual journey, but I found that there wasn't a lot of material once we understood what NOW means. Don't get me wrong. It is a very essential aspect that needs to be understood and then tried to be lived. Tolle gives meditations and example of how to go about this and this is all helpful. But what I found most profound was Tolle's explanation of the pain body and particularly womens's historical pain body. So much truth in there, and really helps to understand how women have seen themselves as second class citizens for so long. Just for that part of the book it was worth the read.

Perfect packaging. Fast delivery. Would definitely purchase from this seller again. Book is a must for anyone wanting wholeness and clarity about life. It worked for me and for my 24 yr old son. Get the book.
    Nonsense2010-02-151 / 5
At the time of publication this bok sold itself on the idea you could practise to be present. Now this is seen as nonsense as practise puts you out of the present. When present there is no practise. The book is ultimate nonsense.
Heavy on the teachings, light on the exercises2010-01-274 / 5
I bought the book last year and have read it and "The New Earth" a couple of times and enjoyed both very much. I bought the audio of the Power of Now for two reasons, first, I could listen to it while working on my quilt and 2. I was looking for specific exercises I could use to get better at "being present". The audio is not a word-for-word reading of the book, rather a summary of the highlights with which I was fine. However, I was disappointed that there weren't meditations led by Eckhart which the title states. Also, my expectations of "exercises" were not met. Once (maybe twice) he suggested getting quiet and "going within" to become aware of the energy of your body. O.k., now what? Maybe it is just me being hung up on "doing" rather than "being" but isn't that the problem the book is trying to get us to overcome?
