Fallout 3 Vault 101, Jewel of the Wastes. For 200 years, Vault 101 has faithfully served the surviving residents of Washington DC and its environs, now known as the Capital Wasteland. Though the global atomic war of 2077 left the US all but destroyed, the residents of Vault 101 enjoy a life free from the constant stress of the outside world. Giant Insects, Raiders, Slavers, and yes, even Super Mutants are all no match for superior Vault-TecĀ® engineering. Yet one fateful morning, you awake to find that your father has defied the Overseer and left the comfort and security afforded by Vault 101 for reasons unknown. Leaving the only home you've ever known, you emerge from the Vault into the harsh Wasteland sun to search for your father, and the truth.

The third game in the Fallout series, Fallout 3 is a singleplayer action role-playing game (RPG) set in a post-apocalyptic Washington DC. Combining the horrific insanity of the Cold War era theory of mutually assured destruction gone terribly wrong, with the kitschy naivety of American 1950s nuclear propaganda, Fallout 3 will satisfy both players familiar with the popular first two games in its series as well as those coming to the franchise for the first time.

Fans of Morrowind and Oblivion this is another great game. Initial stability problems prevent a perfect score2010-02-074 / 5
Open world 1st or 3rd person questing. Lots of expansion content for this game. The only complaint is that the un-patched game is very unstable and crash prone. The current patch resolves all stability issues, but it's frustrating when a game doesn't work straight out of the box. One of my favorite games of 2009
addons pointless now game of the year edtiton has them2010-01-263 / 5
the fall out 3 game of the year edition has all three expansions. why by them, i have not gotten fall out 3 yet, am still working my way through 1 &2. so will just get the whole kit-n-kabootal with the game of the year.
great game2010-01-215 / 5
The game is great. I did have to upgrade my video card too an ATI 5870 from a 7800GTX SLI to get smooth play. If you played Oblivion you will notice the same engine. I was an original fan of Wasteland on my Apple IIGS back in the late 80's early 90's. I replayed Fallout 1 & 2 before this so I guess I am a fan of this series. They say over 100 hours of play, I think I can belive it. It is an large world. I have only played about 10 hours worth so far.
check the speed of ur pc b4 u buy it2010-01-171 / 5

Warning - Game Crashes a Lot2010-01-031 / 5
I won't go over the plot, mechanics, or other attributes of the game, as other have covered that in much more detail here. What I will say is that the game appears to be cursed with badly written code, as it crashes randomly, requiring me to unplug my computer because the whole thing freezes up (monitor powers down to sleep mode, and no combination of button mashing wakes it up). I have a 1-year old HP, 6 GB of RAM, AMD Quad Core 9500 Phenom processor 2.2 GHZ, and a Geforce 9400 GT video card with I think 512 MB memory. Oh yeah, windows vista home premium. This computer has enough juice to run this game, and just doesn't crash, ever, except when I play Fallout 3.

I downloaded the only patch showing on Bethesda's web site (as of 1-3-2010) and have trolled various forums and threads regarding all of the crashing issues people have experienced with this game. I haven't found a one that seems to have the solution for windows vista crashing. If someone can comment with a pointer to a fix for this, I will gladly change my rating, and kiss your feet, but until then let this stand as a warning to anyone running windows vista.
