| Cheap not safe | 2010-07-21 | 1 / 5 |
| | I bought this crib in the middle of Feb. and as I moved the crib to vacuum behind I notice the wood spiting. I tried contacting costumer service and I haven't received a response. I am just glad my daughter didn't get hurt. I did post a picture under consumer pictures so you can see exactly what happen. |
| Pleasantly surprised | 2010-07-01 | 5 / 5 |
| I read almost every review on this product before buying it and was consequently both hopeful and nervous while waiting for the crib to arrive.
I ordered this early in my pregnancy (17 weeks) just in case the horror stories about delayed shipping and damaged parts turned out to be true for me, but I had problems with neither. It took almost two weeks to ship with regular shipping, and there wasn't a single ding in the finish.
Based on other reviews, I expected to have to be extremely careful with the wood while putting it together, but it's a little more durable than it has been given credit for. (I'll definitely update this when I have my own teething child =P.)
Assembly wasn't too terrible...the directions really aren't the best but they can be worked with. It took about an hour, and while help wasn't a necessity, it makes the process faster.
One factor in deciding on this crib was its height. I'm 5'9" tall and the crib stands at a very comfortable height for me, and the curved front makes it easy to bend down into. I think someone more than 2-3 inches shorter than I am might be less comfortable with the height.
Aesthetically, it really is beautiful. My husband and I bought the cherry finish, and the only problem I am encountering is finding a matching changing table. I know this item has a matching changing table available for purchase, but I decided against buying it based on the reviews it received (flimsy drawers and changing surface and darker finish than the crib seemed to be mentioned frequently). The finish on this crib is VERY cherry. The picture does it justice for the most part, but I feel mine is a little redder than advertised. I do agree with other reviews I've read regarding the exposed screws, but they don't take much away from the overall appearance of the crib. I'd rather not have to worry about small plugs that could fall out and be ingested by my baby anyway.
Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase and will update periodically :) |
| Good, solid crib but not accessory friendly | 2010-06-28 | 4 / 5 |
| We've had our crib for a year now, and we have been pleased with the look and function of the crib. The curved front makes it easier to put the little one to bed, and is a good alternative to the recall-prone drop-side cribs. The only thing I've had problems with is attaching accessories (mobiles, crib toys, etc.). The front and back of the crib are both curved and although the ends of the crib are straight across, they are curved outward like a sleigh bed and are thick. All of these factors made if very difficult to fit any accessory we bought. We have been able to find a few toys that we've squeezed on, or rigged a little, but when we first used it, we couldn't attach our mobile, which was a disappointment since it matched the bedding.
Overall, we're happy with the crib. |
| Beautiful Crib | 2010-06-28 | 5 / 5 |
| | This is a beautiful crib. It took my husband and myself less than 30 minutes to put it together. The color on the internet is true to the actual color. There are a couple of things I want to point out - yes the wood does scratch easily. It is pine. Unless you want to spend $500 or more on a hardwood bed this is just a fact of life. Also the screw holes show in the front, but the tiny wood stoppers that usually cover something like this up would be a choking hazard. I love this bed, it is extremely sturdy and met all of our expectations. We have not put the trundle drawer together. Also, we really like that this crib came with the toddler rail because with most cribs you have to purchase this piece separately. |
| needs some work | 2010-05-17 | 3 / 5 |
| | I agree with some other reviewers, the directions are very difficult to follow and down right incorrect in some instances. I am pretty handy and getting the crib together was tough. Tonight I was trying to convert it into the day bed. The directions said to take off one of the ends, it was only after going to the website and looking at the day bed picture did I figure out that their directions were incorrect. Also it it soft wood so it dings very easily. My final beef is that the screws show, I think the bed would look so much better if we couldn't see the screws, it just looks cheap. I didn't buy the bed so I can't complain but I would not buy this bed again. Shell out the extra bucks and get one that is better quality. |
